MEEKNESS: KEY TO GREATNESS JULY 18TH 2022

WHAT REALLY IS MEEKNESS?

1 Peter 5:5
• the way to greatness is always frustrating for young people who do not value meekness.
• Disrespect for elders frustrates our ability to exhibit the meekness that gives access to grace.
• At the root of greatness is grace and the only facilitator of grace is meekness.
• God will always stand against anyone that does not possess the fruit of the Spirit, called meekness.
You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
• Meekness is what defines the quality of our spirit man.
• How submissive your spirit man is to the Holy Spirit would always define the state of a man’s soul.
• Meekness defines the nature of the hidden person of the heart – spirit man.
• You cannot have a proud spirit and be meek in reality.
• Your proud look is a product an arrogant spirit.

1 Peter 3:4
but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

Matthew 11:28-29
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
• A man with a lowly heart is the one that can be considered meek.
o Who is speaking here?
• Understanding the identity of the speaker here would help us understand what meekness really is.

Matthew 28:18
• 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
• The person speaking here has at his disposal ALL the powers in heaven and on earth. That means outside the powers at his disposal, there is other power anywhere else.
This same person is saying, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
• So we can safely say that meekness is power under control.
• Meekness is the ability to control power.
• That passion for knowledge is what defines meekness.
• The more our spirit man is open to the dictates of the Holy Spirit, the meeker we become.
• The meeker we become, the more our access to greatness.
• Meekness is therefore not a passive word, but an active word.
• It is meant for the strong and not the weak.

Prayer:

Father, in the name of Jesus, help my spirit man to walk according to the dictates of the Holy Spirit, causing me to walk in true meekness.
Open me up to the teachings of your ways that lead on the pathway of greatness.
Enlighten my darkness and cause me to walk in the fulness of your grace.
As I meditate on these words, let there be a revival in my spirit man, and let my light break forth as the morning in Jesus name.
